MSC Puts Another Ship Back in Service

The Opera is now sailing from Genoa, Italy to destinations including Tunisia.

MSC Cruises has announced that their Opera is back in service and yesterday began sailing from Genoa, Italy. According to the MSC website, the ship will sail summer cruises in the Western Mediterranean, visiting Naples, Palermo, La Goulette, Barcelona, Marseille, and Genoa.


The Opera is the 17th ship in their fleet to go back into service. After a summer in the Med, the vessel is scheduled to sail to the Middle East, and in late November, the ship will offer itineraries departing from Dubai and Abu Dhabi.


The MSC Opera was first launched in 2004. The 65,000-ton vessel was built at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard, in St. Nazaire, France. The Godmother of the ship is Sophia Loren.
