Donald expects the world's largest cruise company to be profitable again in the second half of 2022.

Arnold Donald, president and CEO, told investors during a quarter business update conference call that he expects Carnival Corporation to return to profitability in the second half of 2022. David Bernstein, CFO, added that Carnival already turned cash positive in November.

Donald said so far, fleet wide occupancy has been 67 percent with Carnival Cruise Line taking the lead at 90 percent, “outperforming both on occupancy and pricing,” Donald said. When speaking of the impact of the Omicron variant to his company Donald said, “we have also experienced initial impact on near-term bookings, although difficult to measure” due to the variant—and that the cruise operator has a “solid booked position” for later in 2022 and 2023 with strong pricing.
