Texas Joins Florida to Make Cruising Harder to Keep Safe
Texas has also banned vaccine passports.
On Tuesday, Texas Governor Gregg Abbott officially put what could be another roadblock in front of cruising out of Galveston when he signed a bill prohibiting any business from requesting vaccine information. Prior to signing the bill, the Governor had issued an executive court but now the legislature has made it official.
The Governor stated in a tweet, "Texans should have the freedom to go where they want without any limits, restrictions or requirements. Today, I signed a law that prohibits any [Texas] business or government entity from requiring vaccine passports or any vaccine information."
Carnival Cruise Line which has scheduled the Carnival Vista to sail from Galveston in July issued a statement about this new law and said, "We are evaluating the legislation recently signed into law in Texas regarding vaccine information. The law provides exceptions for when a business is implementing Covid protocols in accordance with federal law, which is consistent with our plans to comply with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention's guidelines," Carnival said.
