Still No Decision from Judge in Florida/CDC Lawsuit

The Judge decision will come soon.

Attorneys for both sides in Florida’s lawsuit against the CDC were before Judge Steve Merryday yesterday in Tampa and when it was over, nothing was resolved. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody is suing the CDC and asking the judge to issue a temporary injunction, allowing cruise lines to set sail without the strict CDC restrictions that have been in place since the start of the pandemic. Before hearing arguments, the Judge warned the attorneys for Florida not to allow misinformation to be made public about the case. Florida recently announced that the court ordered mediation had failed when in fact, mediation is still ongoing and the Judge reminded everyone that only he can declare an impasse in the mediation. Merryday told both sides that they have a have a right to confidentiality, and that if it happens again, he will investigate. After hearing arguments, the Judge said he hopes to make a decision soon but he did not say when soon would be.
