Port Canaveral Welcomes LNG Bunker Q4K

Port Canaveral ready to service Carnival's new LNG powered Mardi Gras

In anticipation of the arrival of the new Liquid Natural Gas powered Carnival Mardi Gras, officials at Port Canaveral have taken delivery of Q4K, a cutting-edge ship-to-ship articulated tug and bunker barge that will service the Mardi Gras.

The Mardi Gras will be the first LNG powered ship in the Americas. “This project has been four years from concept to reality and we are excited to welcome the Q-LNG 4000 to fuel the next generation of cruise ships,” said Capt. John Murray, Port CEO. “We have been working closely with our cruise partners, all the federal and state regulatory agencies, and industry leaders to promote this industry initiative.”

“LNG is the fuel of the future, it’s clean, less expensive and made right here in the United States,” said Canaveral Port Authority Commission Chairman and retired Admiral Wayne Justice.
