NCL a No Go for the Dominican Republic This Summer
The cruise line has cancelled the summer homeport season to focus on Alaska and U.S, ports.
Norwegian Cruise Line has decided to cancel its plans to homeport the Norwegian Gem from the Dominican Republic this summer. Citing staffing needs in their notification to guests who had been booked on the Gem, the company said "As you may know, we have for many months said that launching and crewing our vessels require approximately 90 days.
At this time, we are doing our best to maximize our operational fleet and active crew to deliver on cruise vacations in destinations our guests value the most. We are so sorry your cruise has been impacted but we hope to welcome you aboard another sailing." Norwegian has also cancelled its season from Jamaica with the Norwegian Joy in order to transfer that crew to the Norwegian Bliss to sail Alaska this July.
