Authorities were exercising caution because the ship had positive cases onboard.
Cruise Hive has reported that Carnival's Panorama was forced to cancel its call to Cabo San Lucas yesterday after health authorities told the ship that all guests would have to be tested in order to be allowed to debark.
The reason for the last minute testing was that the ship had reported that they did have guests in quarantine who had tested positive for Covid. The CDC has also reported that the ship was currently in YELLOW status because of the positive cases. The Panorama is one of four Carnival ships currently in a YELLOW status.
Guests were sent a letter and issued a credit for the missed port. The letter read:
“Local authorities in Cabo have decided that, due to a small number of positive COVID cases on board, all guests who debark must be tested. As you know, this is a water shuttle port, and we have a short stay. Furthermore, health authorities are not yet prepared to conduct the testing.”
